Copy Editing and Proofreading

As an author, I know how difficult it is to pour over work searching for misspelled words, incorrect punctuation, and those confusing homonyms.

We've already spent countless hours creating a piece we're finally ready to publish. Yay! After reading and re-reading our manuscript a gazillion times, we're convinced we know what we've written by heart.

We assume we see the words we wrote, but instead, we see the words we think we wrote. We've become too close to our work to decipher the errors we've made. This is when a manuscript is ready for editing.

I offer copy editing, proofreading, and ghostwriting services at a reasonable cost, following the Chicago Manual of Style guidelines. I will make one or two passes through your work depending on your preference and the amount of work the piece needs. It's best to send a few sample pages so we can determine in advance how best to proceed. All work is done in Word with the Track Changes feature.

As far as genre goes, almost anything goes. The most important thing is a good story. I like fantasy, science fiction, young adult, middle-grade, romance, mystery, paranormal, literary fiction, women's literature, and LGBTQ+. I'm a bit sqeamish about horror, so I won't be the best fit for that genre. (Since I can't edit and cover my eyes at the same time!)

I also edit non-fiction and website content for an hourly rate. Ghostwriting services are also available.

Please see below for pricing guidelines and contact me for a quote. I look forward to hearing from you.

Keep writing!

If you're a new author, please note that copy editing comes before proofreading. Proofreading is the final step before your work is ready for publication.
